December projects

The Christmas cards are finally done and in the mail!  I worked on them every day for a week.  It’s amazing how what I think is going to be a simple card turns into so many hours of repetitive work.  30 cards x 3 ornaments per card and everything done to them (inking, ornament tops, strings, extra glitter) makes a lot of work!  But I’m sure I’ll forget again by next year.

I did not spend all my time on the cards because life doesn’t stop for creativity, darn it.  I also made tags for teacher gifts, a birthday card, a get-well card, and a wedding gift card.  Red paper was out and it seemed appropriate for all of them because it’s both formal and cheerful and, well, it’s December.

I made this birthday card for a 10-year old boy using the Slice.  Still loving it!  I added some glitter glue to the bows, inked the edges, and used a Cuttlebug embossing folder strip for the circles at the bottom.  He may not appreciate it, but it was a very fast card.

For this next card I used the Slice again to cut out the decorative white background (Wedding design card).  I also ran that through the Cuttlebug in an embossing folder.  The Slice also cut the bells out of metallic gold paper (also Wedding design card).  I used the i-Rock heat setting tool to put on the gold rhinestone.  I added a little glitter glue to the outer edge of the white paper, as well.

This next card was for a friend having surgery for cancer. I thought this was cheerful with the red and polka dots. And lately I like to add rhinestones to everything. I used the Silhouette for the flower and the Slice for the flourish. I used a Scor-Pal to emboss the rectangle on the background.

Finally, the kids made dipped pretzels with Grandma for their teachers.  I made quick tags using a scallop punch and a rubber stamp by Stampin’ Up.
