Birthday Card with Bennit

I love this cute little bunny I bought from Tangle’s Treasures.  Rebekah and her sister Rachel have created some absolutely charming characters you can buy that come in several formats, including PNG, SVG, and Studio.  In Studio the pieces can be cut separately from cardstock, or print and cut.  I had a hard time deciding which to go with first, but opted for the print and cut.

I chose this pose of Bennit because he looked like he was reaching for something, so I gave him a giant cupcake to decorate.  Mmmm…

The cupcake file was actually an image from the “Block Party” Silhouette Digital Design Portfolio CD. The cut files on the CD don’t match the sketchy look of this particular printable image, so I used my trace feature in Studio to trace the individual parts, do a little point editing, and turn it all into cut files. I have so much pattern paper that I didn’t want to waste my printer ink with something easy to cut. Plus, it has so much more texture with all the layers. Here’s a screen shot:

The upper section shows what I actually print and cut (see the bunny’s layers?), then below is what I was able to do with the original cupcake image (on the right). The black edges I cut with adhesive cardstock (loooove it!) so the very thin lines would be easy to apply to the cherry, cupcake, and liner.  I cut the background layer out of white so it would all be easy to put in place and then pop it off the page with foam pop-dot adhesive.

This was such a fun card to make with Bennit the Bunny, and maybe the three-year-old recipient won’t appreciate all the detail I put into it, but her mom will and I hope you do, too!
