Vinyl Store Front Logo

I tried something new.  I’ve done plenty of vinyl projects for home decor, but I was asked by a family friend to put his store logo and hours on his new location.  Here it is:

I did my research on which vinyl to use (Oracal 651) and how to apply it centered and level (use a ruler and a level–why did I never think of that before?)…and I think it turned out pretty swell!

The original design files for the logo were long gone, so I went off a photograph to make a new crisp and clean logo with the flourish design traced in Silhouette Studio and a font that was similar to the original. I spent some time modifying the lettering to make it smooth and similarly-connected like the original logo.

Once it was designed, my Cameo cut the design beautifully from a piece of 24″ x 12″ vinyl. I could have fed the vinyl directly into the machine, but since I had a 24″ x 12″ cutting mat I used that so I could get within 1/8″ of the edges.  The part I was most concerned about was the application to the glass.

Fortunately, I found this very helpful YouTube video that goes through the step-by-step process of applying this kind of vinyl project to a window. I followed each step exactly, and the application was perfect!

I like using my Cameo for any and every project, but it’s kind of nice when it adds a little extra cash to my pocket, too.  🙂  Don’t be afraid of vinyl!  It’s really pretty fun.
