You & Me Card

You & Me Valentine by Kelly Wayment

Are you excited about the new products released by Silhouette this month at CHA?  I am!  I made a Valentine’s Day you & me card for my husband using the new white corrugated paper and the new stencil material in my Silhouette machine.

I love them both!  I used this man woman shape and placed them inside a heart with an ampersand.  I typed “you” and “me” with my Studio Type Tool using a font on my computer called Stencil, which is perfect for using with actual stencils.  These elements make a terrific combination for a masculine Valentine. (I had to hold myself back from using too much sparkle!)

You can see I used the new corrugated paper for the heart.  Doesn’t it give great texture and visual interest to the card?  I cut my text from the new stencil material.  It has a sticky back, so I dabbed the sticky side against some cloth before applying it to my paper just to make sure it wouldn’t damage the paper when removing it.

The sticky side holds it nicely in place while you add your medium.  I used plain white acrylic paint here.  Once it’s mostly dry, just peel away the stencil, return it to its backing, and save it for later!

One final detail I added to the card was a scribbly border with a gold Silhouette sketch pen to sketch on the red card base before cutting.  This was simply created by drawing a rectangle in Silhouette Studio Designer Edition and using the Edge Sketch (Scribble) advanced options.  The metallic sketched border gives a nice shimmer in the light.

I’ll be back next week with more on the new stencil material! You don’t want to miss it. It continues with the Valentine’s theme but you can use the technique for any occasion.
