Pilgrim Hat Thanksgiving Decor
Here’s my latest paper creation. I made this elegant Pilgrim hat as our Thanksgiving decor at the accounting office where I work.
I love decorating for fall! When I saw this 3D pilgrim hat in the design store, I knew instantly that I wanted to make it. The hat itself is a breeze to put together, and then it’s fun to embellish the brim however your heart desires.
You can find the designer’s assembly tutorial here. (The link is also found in the design’s description in the online store.) All of the pieces I put on the hat are included in the file, but I cut a few more flowers and leaves to fill it in and added some decorative pearl centers to the flowers. I used printable gold foil for the shiny buckle on the front.
I rubbed an inkpad along the edges of my leaves, spiky feathers, and wheat stalks to add a little shading. To shape the leaves and flowers I misted them with a touch of water and shaped them with my fingers, then let them dry before attaching them to the hat with hot glue. It really is easy to add a lot of dimension!
How are you using your Silhouette to decorate for the holidays?
Wow! This is amazing! I love seeing files created by Snapdragon Snippets! I invite you to share this picture of either the SnapDragon Snippets or SVG Attic facebook page! Happy Thanksgiving!
Thanks for the suggestion, Beth! I added it to the SnapDragon Snippets facebook page. 🙂
Wonderful!
Kelly, that is such a beautiful centerpiece! I love it! I have to check my designs, I think I may have that hat file, feeling the need to make a hat now. ggg hugs, Patty
Thanks, Patty!
This is just beautiful, nicely done!

Thank you, Lori!
Hi, Kelly! This is awesome. One suggestion: I would love to see an estimate of production time added to the projects. I know that we all work at different rates, but knowing that something is a 2-hour vs. 20-hour project would really help!
That's a good suggestion. Usually I don't track my time because I'm also taking pictures, editing pictures, writing notes, etc. as I go so I can share details. (And my time is often interrupted.) But I'll try. I'd say this one was closer to a 2-hour project.
Thanks for sharing your hat. It looks great!
