Big, Deep Breath.

I did it. I submitted my last scheduled design-team post to Silhouette last night. 51 projects in 18 months. And that was right after 2 1/2 years of design-team work and teaching Silhouette classes for a local scrapbook store.  Nearly four years of creative deadlines, and it was great! But I’m ready for a temporary break.

I’ve got big plans for my own blog with a new website. I still have plenty of my own projects to share, and it’s time to get serious about teaching my own Silhouette lessons again. I’m excited for what’s ahead, and I hope you’ll stick with me as I see where this journey takes me!

  • Thank you for all your wonderful.
Ideas. I visited your blog every day, even before you were on the Silhouette Design Team. Still do, and I will continue to do so. Best of luck in whatever you do.

  • Thank you for all of your amazing projects! I have really enjoyed following you and will continue to do so. I wish you the best of luck and don't worry I'll continue to follow you and enjoy learning from you!

  • I bought a Silhouette Cameo and have not used it very much. I find it very confusing and complicated and the material they give you to teach you, I find is inadequate. I will be reading your blog closely because I need a LOT of help.

    • I hope I can help you. 🙂 The lessons I will start with will cover all of the basics, and the feedback I've gotten from former students has always been positive. I want everyone to enjoy their machine as much as I do mine!

  • Congratulations on your accomplishments! Looking forward to seeing what is upcoming. Your projects are great and I appreciate the tutorials.

  • Hi Kelly, I found you yesterday, on the Silhouette + forum, and I am so happy I did I plan to learn a lot from you, I am on perm Disability for an on the job injury, and I will not be going back to work, so I',m throwing myself into my Cameo I purchased a year ago and have hardly made anything, when I do learn how to finally do something it is changed or it disappears. I am so confused I would like to learn how everyone is keeping all of their SVG's together, I don't know what to keep and when I look at one on my Silhouette software, at all of those pieces, I am more overwhelmed. I did purchase an SVG database from Scrappy Dew and I have most of them corralled there. I am so eager to learn my Cameo. I like your tutorials they make sense to me and I can follow on and turn around and do the project.(some of the time) So here's to learning more from you, and Thank you!! and Congrats on your all of your accomplishment's.

    • Thank you, Jamie. I can't say I'm happy you're on disability, but it is good to do something productive with your time so I'm glad you're choosing your Cameo. 🙂

The SVG and other files I have collected over time are mostly in a "Cut Files" folder on my computer, so I can't view an image unless they came with a thumbnail product picture. I have bought several I am sure I want to use, so I've created a few folders by manufacturer in my Silhouette Studio Library and have saved them there.

All those pieces can be overwhelming, I agree. I like to save a thumbnail of the product image in the same document I open those pieces in and save (as a Studio document, not necessarily in my Library). Pictures of the final product always help. I will try to address this in a future lesson, but hopefully this helps in the meantime.

I'm so glad my tutorials are helpful to you. I really want everyone to love their cutting machines!

  • Kelly, we've really had fun watching how your creative genius goes after these wonderful creations. Especially have enjoyed how you have incorporated SnapDragon Snippets designs so regularly. I am interested in viewing the things you continue to envision and actuate, and hope the deadlines haven't taken away the fun (can happen so easily). Best of luck as you change directions slightly, and find YOUR OWN motivations. Warmest wishes, from the SnapDragon team.

    • Thank you, Jodi! I must admit that a few looming deadlines took some of the fun away, but I'm so glad I spent that time pushing myself. I look forward to doing some more complex SnapDragon Snippets designs on my own time. Thank you so much for the encouragement!
