3D Birthday Cake Card

3D birthday cake cardI love these type of 3D cards in the Silhouette design store. They are pretty fast to cut with my CAMEO and to assemble. Most of the thought and planning (the slow part for me) is already done and included in the design. I made this 3D birthday cake card for a 12-year-old boy’s birthday in about 20 minutes.

Time was a factor on this birthday card, so I chose the design in the design store, cut the base from double-sided pattern paper, and cut the rest from adhesive cardstock and adhesive gold foil. I had scraps of bright yellow and orange adhesive cardstock, but I cut everything else from white adhesive cardstock and colored the flags and cake base cutouts with markers.

You should know by now if you follow my Silhouette projects that I love adhesive cardstock. Look how tiny it cuts, and I don’t have to use any glue! Custom coloring is a good thing, too.

3D birthday cake cardYup, I love quick cards and I love adhesive cardstock. In case you missed my post from last December about all the virtues of adhesive cardstock, I sing its praises in this post.

Here’s another view of the card. The 3D design means the card is its own stand. After taking the pictures, I wrote the birthday wishes to our 12-year-old friend on the inside so he could read it through the window. He loved it.
