Father’s Day Gift Box

Father's Day Gift Box | Finding Time To Create

I’ve got the perfect small gift for my husband this year for Father’s Day, but just wrapping it was too boring. I used this Hawaiian-style shirt gift box to hold the present. (I’ll add a little bit of candy, too.)

I chose to go with a print that’s a little more conservative than a Hawaiian print, and I love the result. I cut one side of the shirt from pattern paper, and cut the other side of the box and the shirt accents with a solid coordinating kraft color.

It’s a super-easy 3D design to put together, but I’ll give you a few tips:

  • As I frequently find with designs by Megan Hardy, you will need to ungroup several times and regroup the correct perforations with the pieces they go with. This makes it much easier to move the pieces around for cutting with different colors of paper.
  • The shirt on the right is the slightly smaller base of the box, so the design you want to cut from the pattern paper that will show is the shirt on the left.
  • I’m including a screen shot of the shirts with representative colors, based on how the design will look when you open it. I’ve added a pattern fill to the shirt on the left, which you will cut with pattern paper. I’ve colored the accent pieces and the shirt on the right a kraft color, because I cut these pieces from kraft paper.
  • Any moderately-thick paper (65 – 80 lb.) would be an appropriate weight of paper to use. I suggest you don’t use lightweight paper if you are putting anything inside of the shirt box.
  • You can cut this with the Silhouette CAMEO, the Portrait, or the Curio. You can cut it as-is on the large Curio base, or cut it on the standard Curio base if you resize it smaller so the largest dimension is under 8.5 inches.

I think he’s really going to like it. I hope you keep this quick project in mind if you’re looking for a quick Father’s Day presentation for a small gift!
