Girls Camp Secret Sister Gifts (Day 1)

I’ve been making secret-sister gifts for our group of girls (ages 12-18) at our upcoming LDS girls camp to give to another group of girls each day they are there.  I’m so glad they put me in charge of this.  Food for 50?  No way.  90 crafty treats and surprises?  You bet!  Budget of $30?  Not a problem.  (Bring on the donated items.)

For the first day our girls will be setting up a “tree-mail” account.  I’m making fabric pouches that can be strung up for the week to hold the secret-sister gifts we’ll be putting in them each day.  I haven’t gotten to that part, so we’ll see how they turn out.  I got that clever idea from Creative Capital B.

In these tree-mail pouches the first day will be this little packet of four sunscreen samples with a cute little girly sunshine and a tag that reads,

“This is a gift especially for you.
I’m your Secret Sister…
(Bet you can’t guess who!)
Please accept this gift with a smile on your face
And expect another one soon in its place.
The sun is sure to shine this week
‘Tis best to be prepared.
I’m giving you some sunscreen
Your skin should then be spared.”

The sunscreen samples were donated, the wrap to hold them together was made from strips of Carolina Breeze paper in my stash, and the sunshine and tag pieces are from Silhouette files (listed below).  I used adhesive cardstock for the shades and lips to keep it quick and easy.  (I actually cut the lips from white adhesive cardstock and colored them with a Spectrum Noir marker because I have so much more white than red.)  I used the Silhouette print & cut feature to cut the tags from plain white cardstock.  Eighteen of these gifts cost me practically nothing.

Hopefully this will be a fun first-day goodie for the girls and their leaders.  Come back tomorrow to see another gift I’ve prepared.

Silhouette files used:
Sun (original 50) #17341
Sunglasses #8788
Lips from Lizzy paper doll skin tone 1 #6708
Scallop circle from Cupcake topper #18310

The poem was inspired by a Secret Santa poem I found from Christmas Crafts Nook.  I found they lent themselves well to altering for secret sister poems.
