Decorative Candles
I made these candles last year and it was a lot of fun. I got the idea from Heidi Swapp on this video. Both my parents and my in-laws celebrated their 40th wedding anniversaries last year, so this is what I made for them.

The technique is surprisingly simple. Just print out any design onto white tissue paper (mine wasn’t even new) that’s adhered at the top to a piece of cardstock so it will run through the printer. Photos will not turn out crisp and clear, but that’s O.K. Cut out the design (don’t let it overlap at the seam on the back of the candle) and use temporary adhesive to stick it to the candle. Use a heat gun to melt the wax, and the tissue paper just absorbs into the candle.
I’m not always great at presentation, but I really like the tag I made. I used the Silhouette, of course, to cut out the star and words, then glued them to a clear tag I cut out of some packaging material.
I’ve heard that you can burn these, but I don’t really intend mine to be burned. I haven’t tested it myself.
Thanks for looking! I promise to get to more Silhouette projects soon. I’ve got more ideas than I have time to make. I’m sure that never happens to any of you! 😉

Wow. That is simple. I could even do something like that. 😉 I love it.
I've also got so many ideas for projects right now. I have a huge list, but like you, not a lot of time.
I'm with you on this, Kelly. I wouldn't intend them to be burned either. Seems like it would get creepy watching the faces melt.
Ha! Ha! My thought exactly, Lia!
Just a quick question. I've been wanting to try this out. When you say tissue paper, what exactly do you mean like the kind you decorate birthday bags? Thanks for your response. I too love to create but I have no time. Here's my sight http://daisyscraftcorner.vpweb.com
Yes, it's exactly the same stuff you stick into birthday bags. The white color turns transparent as it melts into the candle with the use of a heat gun.
