Hello Card
I made this card for my friend who lives out of state. We only see each other once a year (if we’re lucky), so I like to send an occasional card to keep in touch.
I was feeling in a kind of retro mood (hence the pink and orange color combination). I decided to go with an ombré look for the zigzag stripes. I cut everything out with my Silhouette Cameo, of course, and made the phone and word bubble into chipboard elements. (I layered the cutouts onto identically-cut pieces of thin chipboard I had on hand).
The phone was just a clipart image I found online and traced in Silhouette Studio. The word “hello” is cut from white Silhouette adhesive cardstock (my favorite way to cut letters) using the font Rockwell Condensed. I made the zigzags myself, but the word bubble is from the Word Bubble Collection available to purchase from the Silhouette online store.
I hope you like this card! Here’s one more view showing the extra thickness the chipboard gives. This way the card has some depth but is still easy to mail.

Kelly, I always love your projects, and I do this one also.
A quick question: Have you used the Silhouette Brand Chipboard yet, or is it too new? If you have used it, could you talk about it on your blog or point me to it, if you already have discussed it? Look forward to your view point; thickness compared to cereal box, how well it handles in the cameo, cut settings for you… Wanting to order some when it becomes available.
Thanks, rose
I haven't had a chance to buy it and try it yet. I cut my cereal-box weight chipboard with the "coverstock" settings, which uses a blade on 7 and a double cut. The Silhouette chipboard recommended settings have you set the blade on 5 or 3 (depending on which version of Studio you are using). That leads me to believe it is very thin compared to other chipboards. I suggest starting with the default settings for their chipboard (just find it on the list on your Cut Settings Window) and be prepared to adjust as necessary.
Thanks Kelly. That was info I was needing. rose
I am sure your friend will love this, Kelly & so nice to send a 'hello' by 'snail-mail', not just email too.
Glad you have had success in using the chipboard settings. I haven't actually used this particular media on my Cameo as yet. Will certainly have to give it a go at some point.
Tine 🙂
Where did you find your cute phone? I've looked in google images but can't find it.
I had to dig for a while before I found this one. I'm pretty sure I just used the word telephone.
