Picture Perfect Frame

Today’s project is a fun way I used this week’s camera free shape to have a little photo op with my kids. (Originally posted on the Silhouette blog 5/13/2014). How about a Picture Perfect Frame?

I used a square scallop frame to fill my 12 x 12 CAMEO mat nearly edge to edge, then used the camera and phrase as accents around it. I cut the frame first out of chipboard for stability, then again out of rose adhesive cardstock. I also cut the camera in rose adhesive cardstock.

I needed a little contrast for the camera, so I used my Offset Window in Studio to create a larger background on which to place the red camera. I cut this offset in white adhesive cardstock, along with the heart, star, and “picture perfect” phrase.

Normally I cut my adhesive cardstock with the default settings (blade 4, speed 3, thickness 29) so the blade doesn’t cut through the backing, but I didn’t want the sticky part exposed on the camera offset so I raised my settings to cut completely through the backing for the white pieces (blade 5, double cut).

I stuck all the pieces together and had my kids pose with their face in the frame for Grandma and Grandpa!  Sometimes it’s hard to get kids to smile for the camera, but if you let them choose their own shapes to add to a frame like this, they might be a little more willing to smile.
