Silhouette Summit 2016 Recap

Aloha! As many of you know, I was invited to attend Silhouette Summit in Hawaii this past May. My husband and I flew out there to be treated by Silhouette Global to all kinds of luxuries, like a fancy hotel right on the beach of Waikiki, a tour across the island of Oahu, and a sunset dinner cruise.

Today I want to share a Silhouette Summit 2016 recap of events and activities, and then on Monday I’ll share the good stuff: new Silhouette products.

Room with a View

Most of us attending the conference on Silhouette’s dime had a view from our balcony something like this.

You certainly don’t see palm trees and ocean in the Salt Lake City area!

Or daily rainbows. Or frequent double rainbows.

We arrived in Oahu on Thursday afternoon, rented our car, and drove to the Waikiki Sheraton. The weather was exactly what you would expect in a tropical paradise — a very pleasant 80-85 degrees (F) most of the time, with pleasant cooling mists coming across from time to time (and providing rainbows).

We felt like our hotel was right at the heart of Waikiki. We explored the area on foot, walking along the beach and also along the sidewalks to see all the high-end shops in the area.

Silhouette Summit Day 1

Friday was the big day of announcements and demos. We met in a big convention room to be informed about company stats and wowed about the new products, new software, and new machine to be released in 2016. It was so fun to be there during the presentation!

After the presentation we had a little bit of down time before a nice lunch was provided. After that we had several hours available to see all the new products, the new CAMEOs, and the new software. I was thrilled to be able to ask all my questions of the Silhouette experts behind the scenes.

I will be sharing everything I know about the new products on Monday, August 1st. (We were asked to hold off on sharing Summit reveals until Silhouette’s official release date.) Silhouette should be making their announcements on Monday, as well, on Facebook and Instagram and possibly other social media outlets.

Also on Friday afternoon, we met at various break-out sessions for our industry. I attended the “influencers” session where I met many more bloggers and “famous” (to me) people in the Silhouette world. Hopefully I’ll have some exciting news to share with you in the future, if all goes well on that front.

Silhouette Summit Day 2

On Saturday, Silhouette treated us to a choice of different activities. My husband and I chose to go on a sightseeing tour, where several tour buses took our large group across the island of Oahu and back, as we stopped at multiple tourist stops.

I think we walked half a mile from our lunch bus stop to find a set of food trucks where we found the best garlic shrimp I’ve ever eaten in my life, along with some scrumptious shaved-ice/ice-cream combo.

On Saturday night we were treated to a sunset dinner cruise out on the ocean. We had a steak and lobster dinner while being entertained with traditional Hawaiian dancers and music.

Later that night we were able to see a “blue moon” that also happened to be close to Mars, which we got to enjoy from our balcony.

The final day was for traveling home, but my husband and I had a chance to visit the World War II exhibits at Pearl Harbor before heading to the airport. That was a fun treat, especially since my hubby loves WWII history. He was my personal tour guide, especially at the aviation museum and at the Battleship Missouri Memorial.
