Brigham City Vinyl Tutorial
I sent 50 vinyl cutouts to be sold at Just Bee Scrappin’ in Brigham City, Utah, and want to make sure anyone who purchases them knows how to apply vinyl. I’ve done all the cutting and weeding for those cutouts, but you can also grab the Studio file here if you want to cut your own. I took special care to design this temple art so it is all one piece and easy to apply.

Here are the steps (included with each cutout you can purchase):
1. Place transfer tape* (not included) on to the vinyl temple cutout so all areas of the vinyl are covered.
2. Rub to apply, then gently peel away the transfer tape from the vinyl backing so the cutout sticks to the transfer tape instead of the backing.
3. Center and place the vinyl on its transfer tape to a mirror or other smooth, flat surface.
4. Rub with a vinyl scraper or other firm, flat tool to press the vinyl securely on to the surface.
5. Gently peel away the transfer tape (work from a bottom corner and pull up for this design) so the vinyl cutout remains in place on the surface. Rub and repeat as necessary.
6. Repeat the process with words, if using. They can be placed on top of the vinyl already on the surface (apply in layers). Transfer tape can generally be re-used multiple times.
* You can use clear Contact paper shelf liner if you don’t have “real” transfer tape. Clear is best for an application like this, and make sure to de-tack any transfer tape by blotting on cloth so it’s not very sticky.
Here are a couple more pictures of the vinyl applied to different 8″ mirrors. (It’s hard to photograph vinyl on mirrors because the slight reflection makes the image seem blurry.)
