Bookmarks using the Silhouette
I got out the Silhouette again today after a great tutorial on the Silhouette Blog. I made bookmarks for two of my kids using the modify tools. It really is great being able to edit and combine shapes to make unique projects that aren’t limited by design cards.
This bookmark uses a rounded rectangle, a letter M with the font “Angelina”, and the shape “hearts vine decor.” I think I’m finally figuring out what some of the modify tools do, like “release compound path.” And “weld” has always been a favorite tool for me.

The second bookmark didn’t use as many modify commands, but I did take a doodlebat font (DB Wild Things) and made it into footprints I simplified and rearranged. Nothing beats the Silhouette for changing fine details!

I hope my little readers like their new bookmarks (and stop leaving their books laying open or stuffed with toys instead of paper)!

Wow, these are fantastic. I particularly LOVE the girly one. Thanks for posting this in the tutorial comments. I am so going to have to try this!
Those turned out super cute!
Thank you! I'm sure I'll be making more. And it's good practice with the Silhouette, expanding my skills.
Very nice!
Stuffed with toys? Ha Ha. They look so great.

Thanks so much for the lovely comments on my blog! You are so sweet. Your bookmarks turned out great! I love the heart vine image. The "release compound path" is still a little tricky, but I'm figuring it all out.
I'm gonna have to check out the rest of your blog and see what all you've done with the Silhouette. I'm in love with mine and I haven't even had it a month yet.
Dana, I really liked your blog too. Thanks for looking over here!
What do you use to glue the things together? I had one of the tape glue things and for really small things it is still messy. What should I get??
I use a Xyron for die cuts, usually. If I can use the smallest one (1.5") I do, because with an embossing stylus I can get the adhesive right to all the edges and in between tiny spaces. I think I had to use the 2" Xyron for the pink bookmark. If there's extra adhesive on the edges I'll just dab my finger on those spots to pull it to the paper.
Sometimes I'll use liquid glue with a tiny nozzle (Suze Gluez), it just takes longer to dry and you may get a little warping on thin papers.
