Heat Transfer Vinyl: My Very First Project

I tried something new with my Silhouette.  Heat transfer vinyl!  It took me a few days from the time my order arrived until I got up the nerve to try this, but it worked great!  Not a whole lot different from regular vinyl, except this was even easier to “weed” away the excess.  (No wonder they call it Siser Easy Weed!)  I just used the Studio default smooth heat transfer vinyl settings and lowered my speed to 3.

I dressed up this scripture case with a name on one side and a book outline and quote from a song on the other.  It’s a tiny bit crooked, but on my very first attempt I’m not going to stress over that.

  • Looks great! You should try the flocked vinyl if you get the chance. Its yummy (although bit more difficult to get heat settings right if using a conventional iron). Nice job. Looks very professional. x

  • Thank you! I do have some flocked vinyl to try soon. I really love the regular fuzzy vinyl for home decor projects, etc. so I'm sure I'll like the flocked HTV as well.
