Dress Up a Dollar Store Frame

I grabbed about 15 of these $1 frames at my local Dollar Tree store, and this is what I did with the first one.  I decorated it with white vinyl on the glass, and backed the windows with red pattern papers.  This was my brilliant idea for neighbor gifts this year, until I started weeding the vinyl and had flashbacks to making 30 personalized ornaments two years ago.  I love vinyl, but I don’t want to weed the tiny details on 15 more of these.  So this frame will stay in my house, and the rest are still in progress.

I’ve bought all the paper to decorate the rest of the frames, but the plan is not quite final on how I’ll decorate the rest.  Come back later to see what I do with them.  I’m curious to see how they’ll turn out, aren’t you?  {*wink*}

Update: See how they turned out HERE.

  • I have not worked with vinyl yet but yes I can see where the weeding might get to be time consuming. I do like what you did with the frame and think it will be a nice edition to your Christmas decorating. Can't wait to see what you come up with.

  • First of all, the frame idea is sooo cute! I really like it.
    Second, you make me chuckle. I've been caught in the same trap… 'I think I don't want to do this anymore. Plan B'. 🙂

  • Don't get me wrong. This is a great project with vinyl if you're only making one or a few. It's just when you multiply it by 15 or 30 that the weeding is too tedious. And you can try designs with less weeding required if you want to make a lot of them.

    I'm good to go with the multiple-neighbor version. I should be able to crank them out in the next couple of days and show more pictures.
