Child’s Bank

hexagon-box

I’ve been wanting to use this box I bought from the Silhouette Store for quite a while, and this week’s Silhouette weekly challenge gave me just the push I needed. And today’s free shape was perfect for the labels.

I used this Hexagon 3-part box by Lori Whitlock to create a three-part bank for each of my kids.  I’m trying to get them used to saving at a young age, so all their income gets split three ways.  50% goes into spending, 40% into savings, and 10% into tithing (a donation for our church).  I sure wish I could spend 50% of everything I make on what I want!

Today’s weekly shape from Silhouette is this circle distressed alphabet.  I resized the letters a lot smaller so they would fit on the lids.  This was a very simple project.  For my next version I may add a slot in the top, but the lids slide off so easily that it’s not really necessary.

Thanks for visiting!  By the way, I finished the remainder of our girls-camp secret-sister gifts, so I’ll be posting those soon.  Now the girls are off roughing it all week while I sit in my comfy office chair in an air-conditioned room.  🙂

  • Hi Kelly. This looks great! Love the colours you have chosen & the tie is a perfect finishing touch.

  • I knew you'd do something fascinating for the challenge, but also with this week's freebie. I always love to see how you use the freebies from Silhouette! Your bank is such a great idea! There are endless possibilities for using each section differently! Very nice, Kelly, as always!!! Did you make one for each of your children?

    • Thanks, Barbara! This was the prototype, so I might make the rest a little bigger. I do plan to make one for each child ASAP (I've already print & cut all the appropriate letters).
