New Features in Silhouette Studio v 4.3 + 4.4

Silhouette Studio v 4.4 was released today! Here are my videos for the official Silhouette YouTube channel for new features introduced in both v 4.3 and v 4.4. I’m also including videos in the list for Cameo 4 features I have not previously shared. Apologies for the delay in adding this information to my blog. (I thought this was all going to go a lot faster.) I do have a couple of Cameo 4 classes in progress, but they are still in the creation phase as the software continually gets tweaked and perfected.
I’ve been running v 4.4 for a few months and feel like it runs even better than v 4.3. All versions have some bugs, but on the beta team we are determined to get those all squashed.
Here are links to short video tutorials on the features now available in Silhouette Studio.
Silhouette Studio v 4.3 New Features:
Select Machine at Page Setup (introduced in v 4.3)
Line Patterns (introduced in v 4.3)
Custom Color Palettes + Recently Used Colors (introduced in v 4.3)
Silhouette Studio v. 4.4 New Features:
Print Preview (introduced in v 4.4)
Transparent PNG Auto Trace (introduced in v 4.4)
Smart Snapping (introduced in v 4.4)
Silhouette Cameo 4 Exclusive Features:
Smart Cut with the Cameo 4 Rotary and Kraft Blades (introduced in v 4.3 – for use with Cameo 4)
Using the Cameo 4 Punch Tool (introduced in v 4.3 – for use with Cameo 4)
Pop-Out Cutting with the Cameo 4 (introduced in v 4.3 – for use with Cameo 4)
Before Updating:
Sync, then back up your Library. If you are running v 4.2-4.4:
- Go to your Library tab in Silhouette Studio
- Click on the dropdown arrow by your name on the left sidebar
- Choose Library Export
- Navigate to where you’d like to save it on your hard drive
- Name it with the date (e.g. My Library 3-23-2020.studio_library)
- Choose “Export”
Take a Snapshot of your Libary:
- Go to your Library tab in Silhouette Studio
- Click on the dropdown arrow by your name on the left sidebar
- Choose Settings
- Click Library Snapshot
- Click on the + and wait a minute for it to show up with today’s timestamp
I recommend always updating directly from the Silhouette website. (It doesn’t always work to do an update from within the software when it tells you to do so.) Choose the “Current Version” of Silhouette Studio here. (As of this writing it is 4.4.090)
To back up if you are running a version older than 4.2, please see this post. This is also the post to visit to see new features introduced in Silhouette Studio v 4.2.
Please let me know if you have any questions!

Hi Kelly,
I just found your blogpost on new 4.4 Silhouette Studio Update. I installed it back in April. Interestingly I found several bugs, strange notifications or malfunctions while using it. Today, I wondered if there might be a new update that might fix those probs. I really was perplexed when I saw on Silhouette America homepage that there is only one current and valid software version named 4.3.370. They provide a Beta version no. 4.4.225, but my installed version 4.4.090 obviously disappeared. I am very sure that I haven’t installed a Beta version, I avoid that on purpase. Do you know anything about this issue?
Kind regards from Germany
Anka
Hi! You are seeing things correctly. The software developers decided there were enough bugs in 4.4.090 that they rolled the current version back to 4.3 as you see it on the website. I thought it was going to be short-term (they should be releasing a better 4.4 version soon) so I did not mention it on my post. I am still using version 4.4 on a daily basis myself, and I just work around the known bugs. For me, the added perks in 4.4 outweigh the bugs, but really it depends on how you are using it for your own needs on a daily basis.
