Class: Framed Sunflower 3D Art
I’ve got a new online class I’m teaching tomorrow for Club Silhouette members! Of course I love making paper flowers, but this one is turning those paper flowers into a framed piece where the flowers are popping out of a frame. So fun!
We’re using my newest sunflower design (D-1355449) but going beyond just making the flower.

Class Description:
Bring a little sunshine to your home décor with a 3D sunflower framed art piece! Join me for this month’s Club Silhouette class and learn how to create dimensional sunflowers from cardstock, then showcase them in a frame using fabric and chipboard. You’ll learn techniques that can be adapted to other paper flowers, making it easy to create beautiful seasonal décor. I will use the Silhouette Cameo 5α, but any Silhouette cutting machine can be used for this project.
Supplies:
For sunflowers:
- Cardstock Sunflower 3D cut file (D-1355449)
- Medium-weight cardstock in yellow, green, and brown
- Green crepe paper to match the green leaves (optional)
- 18-gauge green paper-covered floral wire
- Strong craft glue
- Hot glue gun
- Paper-shaping tools: tweezers, scraper tool, spatula tool, etc.
- Needle nose pliers
- Silhouette Cameo or Portrait
- Standard blade
- Cutting mat
For framed piece:
- Chipboard
- Cardstock in terra cotta or other flowerpot color
- Fabric (muted fall color/pattern that doesn’t overwhelm sunflower in quilt-weight cotton)
- 8×10” frame (does not need glass)
- Double-sided adhesive sheets
- Tape runner adhesive or other glue
- Scissors
- Brown distress ink and applicator (optional)
