Haunted House Kids Craft
I thought I had posted this last fall but apparently I didn’t. We made these houses about the time I created my blog.
These are Halloween houses cut by the Silhouette (purchased from the Silhouette store but no longer available). I made them bigger than the default size so they fit on more than one page. Since I had to do some gluing, I just enlarged them to extend beyond the normal cutting area, used two pages instead of one, and fit them together where they wouldn’t be seen. When the 12×12 Cameo cutter comes out, it will make cutting larger 3D files so much more fun.
You can see how I extended it beyond the cutting area in this shot. I used a second page to cut the other half. I used scissors to cut off at places like the perforations so the seams wouldn’t show.
This was a fun project to do with the kids. I cut the houses out, then let my kids decorate them. Here is the house from daughter #1:
You can see on this one I used two different colors of brown for the roof shingles.
And the house decorated by daughter #2:
And the house decorated by son #1. He likes to add a lot of extras; Halloween is his favorite holiday. You can also see how big these houses are in relation to most of a normal piece of notebook paper.
And mine (have to have a little sparkle on there):
These were a lot of fun to make! (And the kids used scented markers when coloring theirs, so they smelled nice, too!) I did most of the folding and gluing, but the kids probably could have done it if I had more patience and more tolerance for imperfection in my crafts. LOL
So cute. Thanks for sharing!
What a great project to do with kids. I love all the extras your son added. And I like the coloring your daughters did.
And of course yours is great with the sparkle.
I hear you with the patience thing when doing crafts with kids, though. That's something I need to work on.
Each of the kids' personalities come out with their individual houses (as did yours). 🙂
