Christmas Advent Calendar

I wasn’t planning on making an advent calendar this year, but when I saw this beautiful set by Elle’s Studio through JessicaSprague.com, I changed my mind! (You can purchase this advent calendar at 35% off through the end of December.) It comes in PDF form so you can print it and cut it out yourself, or if you have a Silhouette machine you can do what I did and have the machine cut it out for you!

If you have Photoshop or Photoshop Elements, it’s easy to convert a PDF file into a file the Silhouette Studio software will trace for you. I used mostly the same steps as in this print and cut paper doll tutorial I wrote, except I saved them as PNGs instead of JPGs and didn’t have to resize anything.

Even if you don’t have time left this year, I think this is a set worth buying now (while on sale) and making for next Christmas season. Another tip: The colors turn out beautifully on Epson Matte Premium Presentation Paper. I used the 44 lb. one-sided and it worked great! (Don’t use the double-sided stuff on your cutting mat; the coating makes it stick like crazy and ruins the paper.)

And did you see I used my white tree again?  My daughter was sad to see me take down the thankful leaves and nuts, but was O.K. with it once she saw I was saving them.

Happy Holidays!

  • Kelly,
How do you always come up with such pretty ideas? I'm brain fried lately lol, thank you for another beautiful creative project.

  • LOL! That's why this one was so great, Lori. I made it almost exactly like it comes in the PDF file and hung the pieces from my white tree that was in need of some Christmas decorations. Not much thought required. 🙂 It's my Christmas card design that's working my brain these days.
