Challenge Yourself!
I made this card for my younger sister and used a challenge on the Silhouette Plus forum to help me create my flower design.
The challenge was to create a 3D project (I’m counting this flower as 3D) by starting with a shape not originally intended for how it was used in the 3D project.
I took this “moroccan flower” shape from the Silhouette store (a basic free shape) and with a little manipulation turned it into a cut file with pop-up petals.
(I happily give credit to my card-making friend, Louise, because she gave me this pretty embossed green background and was using a similar flower on her cards to spark this idea.)
Just for fun, I added some sketchy accents to the flower and used my favorite Micron black pen in the Chomas Creations adjustable marker holder in my Cameo. I created the accents from the little spots of the “moroccan flower” shape and used the sketch feature of Silhouette Studio’s Designer Edition to turn the spots into scribbles.
And finally, I added a little glitter to the flower center with some Stickles glitter glue. There’s also a little yellow flock around the outer petal edges, but that’s even harder to see than the glitter.
I hope you take the time to play and design in Studio to see what fun creations you can make from existing files!
And your sister (and her family) loved the card!
I'm so glad. Hope you had a great birthday!
Hi Kelly,
Oooohhh LOVE that flower!!! The sketching gives me serious ideas, now I need more time more time more time.
Kelly I wish we lived closer to each other, I think we would be dangerous together.
I also want to thank you for all your blog visits and encouragement, you have no idea how much it means to me.
Hope you have a terrific weekend.
Blessings,
Barb
Don't we all need more time more time more time?! I feel the same way about living closer and about the encouragement you give me, Barb. Thanks for all the sweet comments. 🙂
I still catch my kids picking up the card and looking at it, turning it around, adjusting the petals. Thank you again.
