Silhouette Online Live was a Success!

I felt like yesterday’s live online classes were a success! The system seemed to work well for most people, and I’m already getting great feedback. This will take a little tweaking to make it enjoyable and practical for everyone, so I appreciate your patience and helpful comments.

Here are the recordings for the two sessions yesterday. If you have problems watching the recordings, I’d like to know that as well. I really want the recordings to work so those who can’t attend live will still be able to access the class.

1 p.m. MDT Recording  (no longer available)

8 p.m. MDT Recording  (no longer available)

I’ll email everyone who registered for these first two meetings about upcoming classes, and will always post a link to register on my blog for upcoming classes.  As I mentioned in the classes yesterday, I think next time I’ll teach about using Photoshop Elements with Silhouette Studio.  I also intend to get a Silhouette Basics class going, which will probably be a series of classes in order to cover all the basics without making you sit in one session for 5-6 hours straight.  🙂

Thanks for all your feedback!  I enjoy being able to help people love their Silhouette machines as much as I do.

UPDATE 7-11-12:  This is the response I received from AnyMeeting Support about audio problems with the recorded webinar:

“Thank you for contacting us. Please note that we’re currently working on an issue where the recording doesn’t play properly when it first loads on certain computers and on other computers the audio plays without issue, but if you refresh your browser a couple times, it will load correctly. Please just advise those who are unable to hear the audio on the recording to try to reload the recording once or twice and that should fix the problem.

If this does not resolve the issue, then we recommend trying to view the recording using a different web browser or computer.”

  • I do realize that the second session volume was too quiet. I had adjusted my microphone because I thought I was too loud during the first session, so I'll be sure to keep it louder. Did anyone think it was too quiet in the first session?

  • I heard everything clearly on both recorded video's Kelly, though had a few issue's with your screen sharing on the first video.
The first screen share was perfect but the other two didn't show, yet on your second video all worked perfectly 🙂
Hope this feedback is useful to you 🙂
Please add me to your list for your next online class, hopefully I'll be able to attend the "live" class this time 🙂

    • Thanks, Adele. I've submitted a support ticket to see if anything can be done about the screen sharing issues for the recordings (the audio was off or it never came up, like you said).

  • It was great, so awesome to experience my first class with you. Hopefully your next class will be after I get my Silhouette for my birthday on the 21st, so I can play along with you!

  • Listened to the recording, loved it! With the next webinar, maybe you should have attendee's submit questions before the class starts. You can pick out those you would like to highlight. Again, thanks for the time you are truly amazing.

  • What a great idea Kelly. Unfortunately when I tried to watch the video today 9/7/12 in Australia nothing comes up on the screen. I would love to watch the video if it is still available. Thank you for all the effort you put into everything to do with the Silhouette Cameo.

    • Have you tried viewing it in a different browser, Marilyn? I've been told the recordings should be available indefinitely.

  • it took a few tries for me to be able to watch the recording but I did get it to work and it worked well, so thank you for doing that! I had registered for the class on Friday but something came up last minute and I had to miss it so I am very grateful you recorded it:-) I am always learning and being inspired by you and your blog, thanks for sharing!

  • I had to turn up my speakers on my PC to hear you the first session. LOL! Forgot to turn them down after the session and things started falling off my desk shelf before I could get them turned down. Don't think I would have heard you on my laptop. Will get back to you about the recordings.

  • All webinars I've attended myself have sounded much better with headphones than speakers; I think that may just be part of the technology limitations. But I think I found where to increase the volume to my microphone, so hopefully it will be better the next class. Easier to turn down the volume than up, right?

  • I wasn't able to watch the live webinar but I did watch your recorded one. Thank you so much. I have two monitors and so I created right along with you. The benefit of it not being live was to be able to use pause and catch up, but I missed being able to ask questions. Thank you so much and I am looking forward to your next one, especially using PSE to create. Thanks!

  • I tried watching your 1st session and can't hear a thing.
I've turned my sound up on my laptop full blast.
    Any suggestions?

    • I had a reader/viewer who had trouble with the sound until she checked all her sound settings and was able to resolve it. Can you check your sound options and make sure you have the correct settings? Please make sure if you're using a headset that you're adjusting the headset controls, and if you're using speakers that you have that selected and are adjusting those speaker controls. These are just some suggestions for anyone who is having audio issues.

    • I checked all my sound levels before writing the above message. I checked, double checked, then had one of my teenage sons checked. The levels are all at 100%.

I don't have speakers or a headset. I've never had to use those things before.

Is that the problem? Is everyone else using headsets or an extra speaker?

    • I would have thought that if you can hear normal videos like on You Tube that you would be able to hear these recordings. I submitted a support ticket on Saturday for audio problems, and when I hear from them I'll let you know what they say, Teryl. 🙂

    • Teryl, I've added the response I received from Support to the end of my blog post. Apparently refreshing the browser a couple of times, or using a different web browser or computer is the solution. This is a known problem they're working on.

  • Kelly,
I forgot to log in on Friday for the live show, but I listened to most of your 1:00 recording today and I loved learning new things! I never knew about that break point and delete point before, so that was awesome. I was a little frustrated by the screen tho – because of the chat box up and then on the other side were the ads, and so the actual screen of direction was soooooooooo small, it was difficult to see what you were doing, and if I made it full screen, it was too big to be able to see where you were going to click on different buttons because I would have to use the slide buttons on the bottom of the screen to move left and right to see where you were going – so I ended up back tracking a little bit. But despite the difficulties, I loved learning the stand up letters!! Very nice! I also went back and forth, pausing you as I went – and created right along with you – so I could figure it out as you went along! That was so very helpful!

    see you next week!! 🙂

    • I'm looking forward to next week, LynnEl. 🙂 I'm sorry the screen size was a frustration; the help topics I've checked are not specific on what works best. I did find that if I made my screen smaller before logging in to the video, the window-resizing options didn't work. If you maximize the screen before going to the video site, perhaps that may work better?

  • Sadly this can not be viewed on an Ipad? It must be flash, i have been spoiled by the ipad lol hardly use my desktop anymore

  • Kelly, I too checked everything as far as audio was concerned, audio on youtube and in itunes was fine…..nothing doing on your webinar though, I even tried toggling on an off the webinar video screen audio, but that didnt work either…..
Oh, I do hope that I can attend the photoshop/Silhouette tutorial you are going to do, or at least be able to view AND HEAR the resulting recordings……That tutorial is one that I really dont want to miss

  • Kelly, I signed up to view the webinar, but didn't get an email saying I was accepted to view. Was I supposed to get an email telling me how and where to view it live? I did watch the recording, and I loved the medium. I hope you continue to do these tutorials! Thanks!

    • Terri, a few people who registered didn't get the email reminders/joining-links and I'm sorry. I wonder if perhaps the emails went to spam folders?

    • Kelly,
No emails were in my junk folders either. I made sure to check. Oh well. Maybe next time. I really did enjoy watching the video.

  • Your classes look awesome and I am sorry I missed out! I hope you'll do more and I'm going to sign up for your blog by email, so I don't miss out!

Thanks for sharing so much with us ALL! It't perfect for those of us who are newbies and have a lot to learn!

    Lisa

    • Thanks, Lisa. I will keep updates for future classes posted on my blog. I hope to get a basics course up and running because I know there are lots of newbies out there!
