  • Kelly I’m taking Lia’s crepe paper masterclass and I’m struggling when I try to use my Cameo 4 for cutting. I use Lia’s settings, a standard mat bryering the paper down and the rotary blade of course. I tried cutting the peony petals. The first row seemed to cut okay but the second row overcut half way into the previous row. My force is set at 20 per Lia’s suggestion for double sided crepe. I researched a little and maybe the blade is catching and cutting too deep? (I also did the software update Lia introduced me to you and I’ll do a deep dive into your archives to see if I can find help but thought I’d ask. Thanks for any help or advice you can offer.

    • Debbie, the blade is only supposed to cut where you see the extra hooks and loops that re-orient the blade. It shouldn’t be cutting into other shapes on the page. I usually cut double-sided crepe with my rotary blade force set to 18 but sometimes as much as 20. That being said, I know there is a bug with the software and rotary blade that I’ve been trying to get the software team to fix, which may be causing your issue. To avoid the worst of the problems, I recommend spreading the designs further apart on the page, and don’t try to cut anything too tiny or detailed. I haven’t tried the masterclass peonies with my rotary blade, but they should cut OK for the most part. I suggest you reach out to Silhouette Support with photos of the poor second row and see if they will forward it to the software team. (A photo of your Send Panel screen plus a photo of where it actually cut would be most helpful for them.)
