My Experience with Lia Griffith’s Master Class

I’m a firm believer in continually learning, so that’s why I took Lia Griffith’s original Crepe Paper Master Class earlier this year. I want to share my experience with Lia Griffith’s Master Class and encourage you to become an annual member on LiaGriffith.com so you can take this free course as well! While I do communicate with Lia and her team now about upcoming education for Silhouette users, I joined the annual membership of my own volition and paid for it myself. It was the best treat I could have given myself!

While I did not consider myself a beginner in crepe paper flowers, I learned so much! This class fits true beginners, experienced crepe artists, and everyone in between. The community is positive and forgiving, so it’s a safe space to share your creations and get answers to your questions. I could point out various flaws in the photos below, but that’s not what the class is about. It’s easy to hide flaws if you keep going, because even nature’s flowers aren’t perfect.

This is a 4-week class with 12 lessons that break out the steps, tools, and techniques used while making crepe paper flowers. The lessons are released throughout the month, then remain available to watch until the end of the session (a total of 3 months). It includes printable templates, SVG cut files, a workbook, and an organization system. I consider myself a pretty busy person, but I found (made) time for all of it, even though most of my work was a little behind the video releases. This is truly a master class, so don’t expect sitting down for an hour to be enough to learn it all at once. Learn and do. Learn and do. It’s so worth it!

How to Enroll

You can learn to make crepe paper flowers in Lia Griffith’s Master class, too. The next session will run May 1 – July 30. Here’s how to sign up.

Once you’re an annual member, the course is free! Membership also gets you access to the monthly projects plus all prior projects. (Her site is not limited to crepe paper projects; you’ll also find projects for felt, macrame, paper, and more.)

You will need to invest in some supplies, which you’ll find on FeltPaperScissors.com. A lot of supplies/tools can be substituted if you already work with fresh or paper florals, or with other paper crafts. I did some substitutions myself, and I’m happy with the results.

Here’s what I made in the months of January through March, 2021. Sorry (not really) for a LOT of pictures! Keep scrolling to the end if flower pictures make you as happy as they make me.

Other Resources

I do have a crepe paper flower class on Craftcast with my own designs and floral arrangement, if you want to dip your toes in the water first. That class includes how to cut crepe paper with a Silhouette Cameo 4 rotary blade.

Check out this other crepe paper corsage & boutonniere activity I did, based on Lia Griffith’s book designs.

And watch for a blog post soon about another way I’ll be teaching how to make a Lia Griffith crepe paper rose using the Silhouette Cameo 4.

Don’t forget to sign up for Lia Griffith’s Crepe Paper Master Class! Enrollment opens periodically, and you can join a waitlist when it’s not open. You may also be interested in hearing my thoughts about Lia Griffith’s Frosted Paper Flower Master Class here.
