Cards for my Card Making Class

Cards for my Card Making Class

These are the cards I designed for teaching my card-making class.  Each woman will get three kits and instructions, and I’ll spend a few minutes on instructions and general card-making tips. I made this card with the hopes that it can be used for Father’s

I’m Ready…

I’m Ready…

After at least 30 hours of designing, cutting, assembling, etc. I think I’m ready for tonight.  This is my last batch of cards, ready to be packed into individual bags.  I used 42 pieces of paper from my own stash for this card (some 12×12,

Some Assembly Required…

Some Assembly Required…

I’ve been busy making kits for a card-making class I’m teaching next week, in case you’re wondering why I haven’t been posting.  I had 32 women sign up!  Three cards for each person means a lot of shopping, cutting, inking, trimming, stamping, and assembling.  I

Hello Card

Hello Card

Happy National Scrapbook Day!  No, I’m not scrapbooking today; I’m making more cards.  This is my challenge entry for the Silhouette Plus forum I enjoy. The background design was the challenge.  Not my usual choice, but I like how it turned out in the end.

Little Girl Birthday Card

Little Girl Birthday Card

I went back to my stamps yesterday.  I bought this set from Stampin’ Up! a few years ago and it has gotten a lot of use since I have two little girls and about a dozen nieces.  My little niece had a princess-themed birthday

Mother’s Day Cards 2011

Bring on the Bling! I used the glitter sketch pens with the Silhouette for these cards and am really happy with the result. Version 1 (more pink): Version 2 (bringing out the yellow and blue from the pattern paper): Together (you can really see the

I made this for a friend whose husband passed away on Easter Sunday.

Flower Card

Flower Card

Here’s another flower card.  Yup, it’s the Silhouette ruffle flower shape again.  This time I used a distressed polka-dot stamp from Glitz design on the blue paper, with Stampin’ Up! coordinating “Always Artichoke” ink and cardstock.  I’ve left off the sentiment for now because I

Baby Boy Cards

Baby Boy Cards

We’ve got a couple of baby boys arriving soon in our neighborhood and it’s been a while since I made a baby card. I love the white fuzzy vinyl for card titles, but it really only shows up well on dark, solid backgrounds. On the

Loving the Silhouette!

Loving the Silhouette!

This card may seem familiar to some of you. I wanted to recreate this card I made not too long ago.  I whipped that one out quickly with parts I had on hand, but I just got some glitter sketch pens for the Silhouette and

Get Well Card in Pink/Brown

Get Well Card in Pink/Brown

This may be another familiar-looking card, but I made this version in pink and brown. I just love this ruffled flower (#11887) cut by the Silhouette. I used white fuzzy vinyl (again!) for the sentiment, and it looks great on the dark brown.  I could

Variations on a theme: Birthday Cards

I made a bunch of cupcake cards last year, but this my newer version.  The cupcakes this time are much bigger, and I used brown fuzzy vinyl for the frosting.  Love it! I also attempted to use white fuzzy vinyl for the sentiment, but it

Mother’s Day Cards

Mother’s Day Cards

These are the cards I made last year for my mother and my mother-in-law.  My mom likes pastels and my MIL likes warmer colors, so I made the color scheme a little different with each one. I used the Silhouette to cut out “Mom” and

Get Well Card

Get Well Card

I made this card today for my mom who had a minor surgery. I used the Silhouette shapes “nurses tools” and inked the edges for extra depth. To get the tiny letters I cut them out of white vinyl with the font “Honey Script.”  I

Another birthday card

Another birthday card

I really need to build up my stash of premade birthday cards again.  Fortunately I’ve usually got enough stuff on hand to whip one up quickly.  This is today’s card for another niece.  I love this happy-birthday themed embossing folder for the Cuttlebug.  The flowers,

Feminine Birthday Card

I realized this morning that it was my niece’s birthday today so I had to whip up a card quickly.  I grabbed some acrylic stamps and various flowers and precut pieces from my stash and slapped it together.  The tiny pink rhinestones from Michaels are

Valentines for 2011

Valentines for 2011

I can’t bring myself to buy boxes of valentines from the store.  I just can’t.  Even with three kids in school this year, my crafty self just won’t allow it.  So I had to plan for 60+ homemade valentines.  Where do I start?  The Silhouette,

Who Likes Unicycles?

Who Likes Unicycles?

Here’s a card and a mobile I made for my brother with the Silhouette using the print and cut features.  The unicycle comes as a cut design, but I didn’t want to cut and then glue all the tiny little pieces, especially multiple times for

Lots of Layers

Lots of Layers

I made this birthday card for my wonderful mother-in-law who enables my crafty habits.  She’s been letting me use her Slice machine, so I made her this card using the Basic Elements Pink design card with the Slice.  I added a lot of flower layers,

December projects

December projects

The Christmas cards are finally done and in the mail!  I worked on them every day for a week.  It’s amazing how what I think is going to be a simple card turns into so many hours of repetitive work.  30 cards x 3 ornaments

Christmas Card 2010

Christmas Card 2010

I’ve finally designed my Christmas card!  I received the first three cards from others in the mail today, so it’s definitely time!  I used the Silhouette to cut out the ornaments from double-sided paper by Imaginisce.  The machine cuts so cleanly that I can

Quick Birthday Card

Here’s another project using the Silhouette machine. I used the 3D Ruffle Flower shape on polka dot paper for this card. Inked the edges, Stickled the brad, added rhinestones to small circle punches, and a rub-on in the corner. Quick but beautiful birthday card!
