Who Likes Unicycles?

Here’s a card and a mobile I made for my brother with the Silhouette using the print and cut features.  The unicycle comes as a cut design, but I didn’t want to cut and then glue all the tiny little pieces, especially multiple times for

Butterfly Frame

Butterfly Frame

I made this frame to hang in my girls’ room.  The 8×10 frame was only $3 and I designed the background with embedded butterflies using pretty much the same techniques as in my monogram tutorial.  I really like this look, and I love to touch

Tutorial: Valentines with Welded Words

Tutorial: Valentines with Welded Words

I’ve been spending a lot of time on the Silhouette Blog and the Flickr group for Silhouette, and it’s obvious there are a lot of questions out there.  I wish I could just spread all my knowledge I’ve learned about the Silhouette the past couple

Fuzzy Vinyl Monogram Tutorial

Fuzzy Vinyl Monogram Tutorial

I am so thrilled to show you this!  This is the project I worked on in December before getting to my Christmas cards.  This is fuzzy vinyl on a glass 8×8″ shower block.  I finally made one for myself. My sister-in-law wanted to make these

Lots of Layers

Lots of Layers

I made this birthday card for my wonderful mother-in-law who enables my crafty habits.  She’s been letting me use her Slice machine, so I made her this card using the Basic Elements Pink design card with the Slice.  I added a lot of flower layers,

Bookmarks using the Silhouette

Bookmarks using the Silhouette

I got out the Silhouette again today after a great tutorial on the Silhouette Blog.  I made bookmarks for two of my kids using the modify tools.  It really is great being able to edit and combine shapes to make unique projects that aren’t limited

Christmas Ornaments with the Kids

Christmas Ornaments with the Kids

For a kids’ craft this week, we made homemade Christmas ornaments.  Yesterday we made and baked homemade clay which we cut with cookie cutters.  Today we painted them.  Some didn’t get finished yet, but we had a good time.  My girls were very interested in

Cutting Cling Vinyl with the Slice

Cutting Cling Vinyl with the Slice

I have had some cling vinyl (Grafix brand) for a few years and have only traced and cut it out before.  Today I tried using the Slice machine on it and it worked great!  I cut the snowman out at a full 4″ and most

December projects

December projects

The Christmas cards are finally done and in the mail!  I worked on them every day for a week.  It’s amazing how what I think is going to be a simple card turns into so many hours of repetitive work.  30 cards x 3 ornaments

Christmas Card 2010

Christmas Card 2010

I’ve finally designed my Christmas card!  I received the first three cards from others in the mail today, so it’s definitely time!  I used the Silhouette to cut out the ornaments from double-sided paper by Imaginisce.  The machine cuts so cleanly that I can

A Wedding Gift

A Wedding Gift

I just love how this project turned out!  I saw this wedding gift idea a long time ago but couldn’t find my notes, so I just did this from memory. I used an 8×10 frame and its glass.  I cut out the couple’s name in

Silhouette Fuzzy Black Vinyl

Silhouette Fuzzy Black Vinyl

I just tried the fuzzy black vinyl from Silhouette last night and it is so cool!  I don’t have a completed project yet with it, but I’ll post pictures when I do.  It cut so smoothly (and more quietly than regular vinyl).  I used

Back to Halloween

Back to Halloween

I know we’re past it, but I want to share my Halloween projects. My oldest son wanted to be a peregrine falcon for Halloween. I don’t buy costumes and I don’t sew much, but I do like to make the kids’ costumes. For this one,

Christmas Neighbor Gifts

Christmas Neighbor Gifts

Now that it’s getting closer to Christmas (yikes!), it’s time to think about neighbor gifts again. I haven’t decided what to do yet this year, but here is last year’s project. For 30 frosted glass ornaments I cut out a snowflake from vinyl using the

Quick Birthday Card

Quick Birthday Card

Here’s another project using the Silhouette machine. I used the 3D Ruffle Flower shape on polka dot paper for this card. Inked the edges, Stickled the brad, added rhinestones to small circle punches, and a rub-on in the corner. Quick but beautiful birthday card!

I Love the Silhouette…

I Love the Silhouette…

I really do. (Except when I don’t, but that comes with all computer-related toys and is another story.) I will show plenty of Silhouette projects, but here is one I did recently for Halloween. These adorable spiders just have pieces with slots so you fit

Why I Created this Blog

Why I Created this Blog

I love to create, but as a busy mom of young children, I don’t get to do as much as I want to. This is an outlet for me to share with readers the projects and ideas I actually get to do. I will post
