Crafty Projects and Silhouette Inspiration and Instruction
Obviously I get on a roll and do the same type of thing for a while. This past weekend I spent my spare time scrapbooking. That’s 3 pages in 3 days for me! Don’t worry if you don’t scrapbook. I’ll be back to making cards …
I’m on a roll! My second page completed in two days! Of course it helps when my toddler takes a 4-hour nap–also a rare event. This is a hybrid page I made. Hybrid scrapbooking basically means that you’re combining traditional methods (any aspect of …
I held my semi-monthly scrapbook group today and I actually was able to work on some of my own pages! I bought these cute “Summer Treats” shapes as an SVG set from Lettering Delights and they were great for this food page. The bowl was …
Here’s a favorite combination of mine: the small Xyron machine (“X” shaped) and an embossing stylus. Once I pull my shapes through the Xyron, I rub the plastic layer quickly with my fingers, then run my embossing stylus around the edges of each shape to …
Here’s another flower card. Yup, it’s the Silhouette ruffle flower shape again. This time I used a distressed polka-dot stamp from Glitz design on the blue paper, with Stampin’ Up! coordinating “Always Artichoke” ink and cardstock. I’ve left off the sentiment for now because I …
I can usually “eyeball” the center of a single flower, but when it comes to stacking layers of flowers together, my layers tend to drift off-center. Here’s my solution: Take a piercing tool, needle, or stick pin and poke through the center of the top …
I got this idea from someone’s blog, but I bookmarked it in my head instead of in my computer, so I’m sorry if this was your original idea. They put Valentine’s Day conversation hearts in empty soda bottles and I thought that would be cute …
This tip may be basic for some of you, but I’ve been asked about this so I’ll share it with you. Maybe it will be an “ah-ha!” moment for some of you who are new to paper crafts. I’ve referred to “inking the edges” in …
I’m finally getting around to putting up some photos of my scrapbook pages. I make a first-year album for each of my kids, and my youngest one is still in progress. I apologize for some blurry spots, but I don’t really want all my children …
We’ve got a couple of baby boys arriving soon in our neighborhood and it’s been a while since I made a baby card. I love the white fuzzy vinyl for card titles, but it really only shows up well on dark, solid backgrounds. On the …
This may be another familiar-looking card, but I made this version in pink and brown. I just love this ruffled flower (#11887) cut by the Silhouette. I used white fuzzy vinyl (again!) for the sentiment, and it looks great on the dark brown. I could …
This card may seem familiar to some of you. I wanted to recreate this card I made not too long ago. I whipped that one out quickly with parts I had on hand, but I just got some glitter sketch pens for the Silhouette and …
There are a lot of great Silhouette shapes people have created floating around on the internet. I got this rosette shape as a freebie from Craft and Smile blog. I used plain lilac paper and inked the edges before rolling them. The lolli shape was …
I always wanted to do something with this American Crafts album cover I’m using for my son’s first-year scrapbook, but wasn’t sure what. I found the solution: white fuzzy vinyl! It is so soft like a baby and goes great with the blue canvas. I …
I made a bunch of cupcake cards last year, but this my newer version. The cupcakes this time are much bigger, and I used brown fuzzy vinyl for the frosting. Love it! I also attempted to use white fuzzy vinyl for the sentiment, but it …
These are the cards I made last year for my mother and my mother-in-law. My mom likes pastels and my MIL likes warmer colors, so I made the color scheme a little different with each one. I used the Silhouette to cut out “Mom” and …
I made this jar to encourage kind words to be spoken in our home. Every time someone says a compliment or is polite or helpful they get to put a pebble in the jar. When the jar is full, we get a family reward. I …
I made this card today for my mom who had a minor surgery. I used the Silhouette shapes “nurses tools” and inked the edges for extra depth. To get the tiny letters I cut them out of white vinyl with the font “Honey Script.” I …
I made this sign a couple of years ago but thought it would be fun to share today, with Easter approaching. I used the Silhouette to cut the rectangles and words out of shiny Bazzill cardstock. The eggs are just ovals, but look like …
For you Silhouette users, I’ve found a new forum with lots of help, lots of free files, references to blogs where people are creating amazing stuff with their Silhouettes, and lots of positive activity. It’s called Silhouette Plus. My other favorite sources for Silhouette inspiration …

I realized this morning that it was my niece’s birthday today so I had to whip up a card quickly. I grabbed some acrylic stamps and various flowers and precut pieces from my stash and slapped it together. The tiny pink rhinestones from Michaels are …
I haven’t decorated blocks with Mod Podge for a while, and this was a lot of fun for me! I bought these blocks at Roberts for about $2 for the 6-pack, after using a coupon. I painted them green with acrylic paint, then cut some …
