Crafty Projects and Silhouette Inspiration and Instruction
I wasn’t planning on making an advent calendar this year, but when I saw this beautiful set by Elle’s Studio through JessicaSprague.com, I changed my mind! (You can purchase this advent calendar at 35% off through the end of December.) It comes in PDF form …
Here’s what I came up with after deciding not to make multiples of this frame with vinyl. I used the same shapes in Silhouette Studio, but printed them on cute Christmas pattern paper in black ink. I like the variety of color on these. Merry …
I grabbed about 15 of these $1 frames at my local Dollar Tree store, and this is what I did with the first one. I decorated it with white vinyl on the glass, and backed the windows with red pattern papers. This was my brilliant …
This is the project I’ll be using to teach some skills at my Silhouette Basics class this Thursday night. Everyone is going to design their own place card from scratch using the Silhouette Studio drawing tools and this free Christmas-tree shape everyone with Studio has …
I have a confession to make. We’ve had our Christmas lights up (and lit most nights) since the 15th of November, and even have our Christmas tree up and decorated in our living room. My husband has been playing Christmas music since the day after …
Here it is, folks! The tutorial I promised for making this Christmas Village from my previous post. The video assembly tutorial is in four parts so you can find what you need easily. Part A covers the stairs and window boxes. Part B covers the …
FRONT VIEW BACK VIEW I have a new respect for designers. I knew when I started this project that I wanted to make a set of houses for a Christmas village and that I wanted my new Silhouette Cameo, with its large cutting area, to …
I made this scrapbook layout based on a Mojo Monday card sketch. Very simple, but I like it. I used my trusty Silhouette to cut out the title and the snowflakes. Since I have a Silhouette Cameo now (yay!), I cut out the large circle and …
Sorry I haven’t posted anything lately. I’ve been getting to know my new Cameo machine. I love it so much and am having no troubles whatsoever with it. Here is my first big project I made with it: This is a cutting file from the …
Here it is: my new Silhouette Cameo! What a beautiful thing! Hopefully I’ll have time to play with it this weekend, but I absolutely love the larger format already! For those of you who don’t know, the Cameo is the new Silhouette digital cutter that …
I tried the Silhouette Temporary Tattoo Paper yesterday for the first time. I had heard you could use it on candles, so this was my first project using it. These gorgeous Halloween images came from a free downloadable set by April at SecondsisterSuaviloquy, called The …

Here’s another shirt where I’ve added fabric paint and heat transfer vinyl (HTV). I cut the sun out of freezer paper (Silhouette settings: speed 3, thickness 10, blue cap on original blade or blade 1 with ratchet blade) and got nice crisp lines when I …
I started my blog one year ago today, and it started me on a path I’m really enjoying. This blog has been everything I hoped for so far, sharing my creative ideas and tips with friends and strangers alike. In the past few months I’ve …
Here are a couple more heat transfer vinyl projects. The first is a falcon in smooth silver on my son’s backpack. He loves Peregrine falcons and I bought this from the Silhouette store a while back for him. It was perfect to dress up his …
I needed to make a couple of birthday cards, and my cards in the fall usually have to have something autumn-related (colors or theme) to make me happy. So the birthday ladies today get a jar full of leaves. I used 8 Fall Leaves (ID# …
Here’s the shirt I made for my youngest daughter yesterday. Well, I decorated it anyway. 🙂 I don’t sew, so it’s nice to make some form of handcrafted clothing once in a while. The hardest part, as usual, was finding a good idea. I knew …
I tried something new with my Silhouette. Heat transfer vinyl! It took me a few days from the time my order arrived until I got up the nerve to try this, but it worked great! Not a whole lot different from regular vinyl, except this …
Use any kind of ephemera to create a mobile. Here’s a tutorial I’m sharing with you to create a Halloween mobile with ribbon, thread, and scrapbook paper. Materials: 10” metal ring (or you could use an embroidery hoop, painted black if desired). 4-5 yards …
I surprised my older sister this weekend with an “Over the Hill” party since the big day’s coming up next week and we don’t get to see each other very often. I lured her and her family over and surprised her with decorations and cake …

This Halloween Party Invitation is an idea I saw from a Flickr photo, and apparently the original idea came from Martha Stewart, but of course I changed it a little to use things I had accessible to me. I can’t compare to Martha Stewart, but …
I just delivered this to Heartland Paper. I wrote a tutorial for it, so hopefully that will show up soon on the Heartland Blog and I’ll provide a link then. This was a lot of fun to make, using Teresa Collins’ new “Haunted Hallows” collection. …
